GP Training

We are a training practice for GP’s and usually have a doctor spending time with us while they train to become a fully qualified doctor.

Video cameras are used occasionally in consultations for training and assessment of the doctor; you will be informed if your consultation is being videoed. Please let reception staff know if you would prefer not to participate in this. 

Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) are trained specialist nurses. They have undertaken additional medical education in order to provide advanced nursing care and to prescribe medication. Nurse Practitioners can provide treatment and advice for many problems which you may have seen a doctor for in the past. Their main areas of expertise are in the managements of common illnesses and long term conditions. The nurse practitioners can assess and examine you, make a diagnosis and provide advice and treatment including a prescription if required. They can make referrals to hospital doctors or other health care professionals, and admit patients into hospital when necessary.

The nurses provide the following services - Chronic Disease Clinics, Health Promotion and Lifestyle Advice, Cervical Screening, Venepuncture, Ear Irrigation, Wound Management, Injections and advice on Minor injuries, travel health advice, family planning, sexual health advice & contraceptive reviews, wart clinic.

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
