Non Urgent Repeat Requests
You can reorder your prescriptions up to 2 weeks in advance by:
- Ordering Online: www.patient-services.co.uk. (If you would rather use the older version of this service click the link above)
You must register to make use of these services, and agree to our Terms & Conditions. Please download and sign these and email them to clinical.s77286@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk or post them to the surgery. We will post your log in details to you. - Phoning us - ONLY IF YOU ARE HOUSEBOUND
- Handing in the tear-off slip on your prescription /a hand written note with your name, date of birth and the medication needed into the letter boxes next to the practice doors or into your usual pharmacy.
- Posting – You can post your prescription into us. If you enclose a stamped self addressed envelope we will post your prescription to you.
Please allow at least 3 days between requesting and collecting your prescription (not including weekends and bank holidays). Items that are not on your repeat list may take longer and you may be asked to make an appointment to discuss these.
It is your responsibility to order in plenty of time before your medication runs out.
Tell us which local pharmacy you would like to collect your prescription from.
Check you have collected everything before leaving the pharmacy. If anything is missing call the pharmacy directly.
Urgent Requests
You can request your medication urgently using our online service. If necessary, the GP will generate a prescription and it will be emailed to the pharmacy. If not it will be ready within 3 working days.
If the surgery is closed you can take your repeat prescription counterfoil to your pharmacy and they can issue you with a small quantity until your repeat prescription is issued.
If a doctor is issuing a prescription urgently for you on the day, such as an antibiotic, please try to allow at least four hours before going to collect your prescription.
Medication Reviews
If you are on repeat medication you may be asked to review this at least once a year.
Hospital Discharge
Please allow up to 7 working days for any changes to medication the hospital have made.
Your hospital letter/request will be passed to either the GP or the practice pharmacist to do a prescription. You may be asked to discuss this with a GP before the prescription is issued. If you have a letter at home we can take a copy of this for you to stop any delays.
Once the prescription is issued we will contact you and it will be sent to your chosen pharmacy.
WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ISSUE ANY MEDICATION STARTED/CHANGED BY THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT WRITTEN CONFIRMATION FROM THE HOSPITAL.
